The Baritone Format: Ukulele Spirit, Guitar Familiarity
Tuned like the four high strings of a guitar (D-G-B-E), the baritone ukulele stands out with a lower range and a playing feel very familiar to guitarists. The "Au70Wbe Art. Uke" fits this bridging concept: a compact, expressive instrument versatile enough for accompaniment as well as more melodic parts, with integrated electronics to facilitate amplification.
Who Is It For and Which Styles?
This baritone suits both ukulele players seeking deeper sound and guitarists looking for a lighter format without changing their tuning references. Its balance makes it relevant for folk, pop, vocal accompaniment, fingerstyle, and arrangements with jazzy colors. The 20.08" / 510 mm scale length provides reassuring fingerboard tension for a motivated beginner, while offering enough responsiveness for a more nuanced intermediate playing style.
Sound
The Sitka A+ spruce top promotes a clear attack, beautiful definition, and natural projection-ideal for highlighting arpeggios and precise rhythms. The black walnut back and sides complete the spectrum with rounder lows and woody mids, delivering a balanced, warm, and clear voice in an acoustic mix. Thanks to the 20.08" / 510 mm scale length, you get comfortable sustain and even response string to string. Once plugged in, the AUE 20 EQ system allows you to adjust your amp balance while preserving the instrument's natural character, and the backlit tuner simplifies tuning between songs.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain the original feel and tonal color, keep a spare Aquila Nylgut string set for baritone ukulele on hand. For transport, a baritone ukulele-sized gig bag or case is recommended to protect against shocks and environmental changes.
