The Masterworks Series: The All-Solid Standard for Definition

The Masterworks series emphasizes what makes a difference in a high-end acoustic guitar: wood selection, thickness control, back design, and above all, precise lutherie work around the FS6 bracing. The goal is clear: to achieve a guitar that is powerful, highly responsive, and clear, with distinct note-by-note articulation. On the MDR70e, the combination of an AAA top and premium components (ebony, bone nuts, refined hardware) places this model among instruments built to last and evolve with your playing.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

With its Dreadnought Slope Shoulder body and volume reserve, the MDR70e is especially suited for intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive acoustic capable of handling energetic pick attacks while remaining precise in fingerpicking. It excels in folk, country, pop, and acoustic rock, becoming a true stage tool thanks to the LR Baggs HiFi system, which preserves dynamics without harshening the high frequencies.

Sound Characteristics

The AAA solid Sitka spruce top delivers attack, clarity, and projection with an excellent dynamic range: it responds equally well to fingerstyle nuances and strong pick attacks. The Indian rosewood back and sides enhance bass depth, controlled brightness in the treble, and harmonic complexity, with generous sustain. The Dreadnought Slope Shoulder format balances power and warmth, while the FS6 bracing promotes rapid top vibration for an immediate response feel. Plugged in, the LR Baggs HiFi electronics rely on under-saddle pickups and high-fidelity amplification to maintain the instrument's natural balance, definition, and dynamics.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original string gauge, keep a spare set of D'Addario XSAPB1253 strings on hand. Like any all-solid guitar, using a humidifier (inside the case) is strongly recommended to preserve wood stability. For stage use, a good quality 6.35 mm jack cable will allow you to fully exploit the LR Baggs HiFi system.
