An electro-acoustic in the Ovation spirit: designed for amplified playing
With its Lyrachord back in a Super Shallow Bowl profile and its central "Center Soundhole" rosette, the Applause AB28 follows the line of performance-oriented guitars: a modern feel, excellent stability, and true sonic coherence once plugged in. This approach favors playability and consistency while maintaining the typical aesthetics of the Ovation/Applause family.
For whom, and in which styles?
This electro-acoustic guitar is very suitable for beginner to intermediate guitarists who want a reliable instrument for rehearsing, home recording, or going on stage without hassle. Its comfortable format and cutaway facilitate access to the high frets, making it particularly well-suited for pop, variety, folk, and pick accompaniment, as well as clear arpeggio passages.
The sound
The selected spruce top provides clarity, a crisp attack, and a nice separation of notes, highly appreciated in open chords as well as in picking. The profiled X bracing optimizes the top's vibration to gain responsiveness and projection. The Super Shallow Bowl Lyrachord body, flatter than a traditional soundbox, promotes a sense of control and limits the "boom" effect in the bass: resulting in a balance often easier to manage when amplified. When plugged in, the CE304T electronics allow quick adjustment of the 3-band equalizer and tuning verification without external accessories.
