Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The protective patch is one of the essential accessories for modern acoustic drum kits, especially with the rise of harder beaters (dense felt, plastic, wood) and styles where a clear attack is necessary. It serves as a practical solution to extend the drumhead's lifespan while refining the sound definition.
Who This Drum/Patch Is For
This bass drum patch is designed for beginner to advanced drummers who want to safeguard their drumhead on the striking side and gain precision in attack. It is particularly suitable for styles requiring a well-articulated bass drum: rock, metal, pop, funk, gospel, as well as recording contexts where each stroke must remain clear in the mix.
Features and Innovations
Placed exactly where the beater strikes the head, this patch acts as a localized reinforcement: it reduces marks and micro-tears caused by repeated impacts while increasing the "point" sensation on the attack. This is a direct and effective improvement, useful both on a new head and as preventive maintenance.
Sound Characteristics
By adding a stiffer striking area, the patch emphasizes the attack and can provide greater definition, with a more pronounced "click" depending on your setup (tension, damping, beater type). The result is often a more articulate bass drum with increased clarity, while maintaining the body of the sound when tuning and muffling are well balanced.

Good Kick pad, allows you to have a very powerful attack (I put it on an Aquarian Super kick II)! The - is that the glue on my kick pad comes off the side...
