An Elegant Finishing in the Saint Artisan Series
The Saint Artisan Amethyst Flame is part of a series designed for bassists looking for a well-crafted, expressive instrument that is immediately enjoyable to play. It features a modern construction while retaining elements inspired by traditional electric basses, including its passive P/J electronics and vintage-style bridge.
Its asymmetrical poplar body prioritizes excellent ergonomics, while the flamed maple top adds a particularly refined visual touch. The glossy Amethyst Flame finishing reveals the maple grain beneath a deep, luminous purple, making this bass as striking on stage as it is in rehearsal.
This bass combines an elegant presentation with features commonly sought in an instrument designed to support the musician over the long term: roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets, precise tuners and easy-to-master passive electronics.
An Accessible Bass for Exploring Every Style
The Saint Artisan Amethyst Flame is aimed at discerning beginners, intermediate musicians and experienced players looking for a reliable 4-string bass. Its C-shaped neck profile provides a natural feel, equally suited to learning the fundamentals and playing more technical lines.
The 34-inch / 864 mm long scale length provides familiar string tension and a solid low-end response. With its 13.78-inch / 350 mm radius, the key offers a comfortable surface for moving from accompaniment playing to faster passages, whether fingerstyle or with a pick.
Thanks to its P-Bass and J-Bass configuration, it naturally fits into rock, pop, funk, blues, soul, jazz fusion and contemporary music. The P-style pickup provides generous foundation to support the band, while the J-style pickup helps bring out attack, nuances and more articulate lines.
The Richness of Passive P/J Electronics and a Roasted Neck
This bass's sonic character is based on the combination of a poplar body, a flamed maple top and a bolt-on roasted maple neck. Poplar promotes a balanced, even response, while maple helps preserve clarity in the attack. This foundation allows the passive electronics to retain a direct, dynamic character.
The two pickups, equipped with Alnico V magnets, are hand-wired and paired with CTS-style potentiometers. The P/J configuration considerably broadens the tonal palette: the P-Bass pickup delivers round, firm and punchy lows, ideal for establishing a dense bass line; the J-Bass pickup adds extra definition in the mids and highs.
The two independent volume controls allow each pickup to be blended with precision, taking you from a massive, traditional sound to a more lively and detailed response. The master tone control can then soften the highs for a smoother sound, or conversely retain a clear attack that cuts through a dense mix.
The roasted maple neck and key also contribute to the instrument's overall resonance. This treatment improves stability in the face of temperature and humidity changes, while providing a dry, fast and precise playing feel. The 20 stainless steel frets offer excellent resistance to wear and a crisp attack across the entire scale length.
Finally, the fixed vintage-style bridge with copper saddles promotes efficient vibration transfer. It contributes to note stability and sustain, while the vintage tuners with an 18:1 ratio enable fine, reliable tuning adjustments.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This bass comes with a gig bag, which is practical for daily travel and storage. To preserve its original balance, it can be fitted with a set of 4-string long-scale electric bass strings with a 34-inch / 864 mm scale length, in a gauge close to 45-105. A bass tuner and a jack instrument cable are also suitable additions for enjoying its passive electronics right away.
