An "Open Condenser" Heritage Serving Modernity
Part of the "Open Condenser" series, the OC16 condenses Austrian Audio's expertise around patented CKR capsules and the "Open Acoustics" approach. It carries the sonic DNA of the brand's flagship models to offer an accessible entry point to the "OC sound" while maintaining rigorous manufacturing in Vienna and exemplary consistency from unit to unit.Who Is It For and What For?
Designed for demanding home studios, content creators, podcasters, and musicians, the OC16 excels on lead vocals, acoustic guitars, pianos, strings, drum overheads, and amps. Its precise cardioid pattern facilitates placement in untreated environments by limiting room pickup, while its high-pass filters and high SPL handling secure close-miking sessions.Key Technologies and Features
Handmade CKR6 ceramic capsule. Inspired by a studio classic, the CKR6 uses industrial ceramic with mass and acoustic properties similar to brass but more stable and less sensitive to production variations. The result: consistent reproduction, increased longevity, and clear transients."Open Acoustics" architecture. This design minimizes diffractions and resonances around the capsule for an open sound field, better midrange clarity, and airy highs without harshness.
Integrated bass control. The 40 Hz and 160 Hz high-pass filters eliminate rumbles, handling noise, or excess bass due to proximity effect without sacrificing instrument fundamentals.
Professional reliability. Each capsule is internally measured before shipping. The metal chassis, symmetrical impedance of 275 Ohms, and 48 V phantom power ensure immediate integration into any studio setup.

Questions frequently asked
Is the OC16 Studio Set suitable for recording vocals in a home studio?
Its cardioid polar pattern limits room capture, an advantage in untreated environments. The CKR6 large diaphragm capsule and its sensitivity of 11 mV/Pa are suited for lead vocal recording. The 160 Hz high-pass filter helps control excess bass related to the proximity effect.
Which instruments can be recorded with this Austrian Audio microphone?
This model is designed for acoustic guitars, pianos, strings, drum overheads, and amplifiers. Its maximum sound pressure level of 148 dB allows handling high-level sources.
Is phantom power required for the OC16 Studio Set?
A +48 V phantom power supply is required via the balanced XLR connection.
What high-pass filters are available on this microphone?
Two switchable analog high-pass filters are integrated: 40 Hz and 160 Hz. The 40 Hz setting reduces low-frequency vibrations and background noise. The 160 Hz position targets handling noise or proximity bass more aggressively.
What capsule is used in the OC16?
The CKR6 large diaphragm capsule is handmade from industrial ceramic. This ceramic has mass and acoustic properties similar to brass, with improved production stability.
