Headphones Inspired by the MixCubes DNA: Avantone's Approach Transposed to Headphone Monitoring

Avantone Pro has become known among sound engineers and producers for a simple philosophy: get straight to the point and reveal what matters in a mix. The MP1 follows this logic by adapting it to a headphone format, with a listening mode specifically oriented toward mid frequencies. The idea is to find, on headphones, a very useful reference point when judging the balance of vocals, guitars, snares, or the clarity of arrangements, without being distracted by extreme lows or highs.

A Versatile Studio Headphone for Producers, Musicians, DJs, and Technicians

The Avantone MP1 targets users who expect more than just pleasant listening: a monitoring tool capable of adapting to the situation. During tracking, its closed-back design helps limit bleed into microphones, which is particularly relevant for recording vocals or close-miked instruments. In mixing, it allows for quick switching between perspectives (stereo, mono, mid) to make better decisions on panning, mono compatibility, and presence. In DJ or live contexts, its solid build and high maximum output make it a reliable partner for monitoring and pre-listening, while remaining comfortable over long periods.

Vari-Voice: Switch from "Pleasure" Listening to "Decision" Listening in One Gesture

The standout feature of the MP1 is its Vari-Voice function, accessible via a switch located under the ear cups. Rather than imposing a single signature, the headphones offer three modes suited to common production and monitoring tasks.

Stereo Mode: The Daily Reference Listening

Stereo mode corresponds to the main listening mode for working on imaging, width, depth, and overall balance. It's the natural starting point for arrangement, sound design, editing, and mixing, with a wide reproduction thanks to its 50 mm drivers.

Mono Mode: Check Compatibility and Impact

Switching to mono allows immediate checking of phase issues, overly wide effects, intrusive reverbs, or certain treatments that "disappear" when the stereo image narrows. For contemporary music, it's also an excellent habit to ensure that vocals, bass, and drums maintain their authority across various playback systems.

MixCubes Mode: Midrange Focus for Clarity

MixCubes mode emphasizes the midrange area to bring you closer to a "truthful" listening centered on intelligibility. This is particularly useful for adjusting vocal presence, guitar bite, snare attack, or the balance between melodic and rhythmic elements. By quickly alternating between the three modes, you save time and reduce hesitation, as the MP1 helps you hear the real compromises in the mix.

Finally, the metal construction enhances the sense of a professional product and resistance to the stresses of transport and handling. Combined with large ear pads, it allows for hours of work without excessive discomfort, a crucial point when recording or mixing during long sessions.
