Baby Audio Humanoid is a vocal transformation plugin designed to create modern, artificial, and expressive voices-from bold hard-tuning to full re-synthesis in a "voice-synth" style. It targets productions where the voice becomes a full-fledged sound design element: hyperpop, electro, contemporary pop, trap, EDM, techno, electronic indie, as well as for occasional effects (hooks, backs, ad-libs, transitions). Thanks to real-time pitch control via automation or MIDI, Humanoid also enables generating harmonies, chords, and melodic variations from a single vocal take.

Main Features

Pitch: Extreme Hard-Tuning and Musical Control

The Pitch module defines how Humanoid corrects and "robotizes" pitch. In Scale mode, the plugin automatically retunes the voice to a chosen key, ideal for instantly achieving the modern "hard-tune" character. In Note mode, you control correction more intentionally via the keyboard display (or automation). To transform a vocal take into a true instrument, MIDI mode lets you impose notes from a MIDI track or controller. Conveniently, the preset lock allows browsing presets without altering your pitch settings.

Synthesizer: Wavetable-Style Vocal Re-Synthesis

Humanoid includes a wavetable synthesis engine that follows the pitch of the incoming signal and re-synthesizes the voice with selectable waveforms. The result ranges from a subtle electronic sheen (to thicken a lead) to a full transformation where the voice becomes a synth. You have access to 64 factory wavetables and the ability to import your own wavetables to multiply sonic signatures.

Transform: "Human to Machine" Morphing

The Transform Knob is the heart of the creative workflow: it allows gradual blending between a robotic hard-tuned voice and a re-synthesized voice. The shape and stretch parameters sculpt the wavetable, while note shift and octave thicken, shift, and stylize pitch for more massive, deeper, or more "alien" effects.

Filter: Ultra-Precise Spectral Equalization

The Filter section offers quick and effective tools: high-pass, low-pass, and a sweepable mid band for boost/cut. Unique feature: the filter operates on the spectral content from the analysis phase, allowing extremely sharp cuts and sometimes more cutting results than a traditional filter-perfect for refining a robotic timbre without losing character.

Effects: Width, Spectral Vibrato, and Stutter

The Effects section is designed to "twist" the voice and make it more spectacular. Widen expands the stereo image, Warble adds a spectral vibrato for a futuristic sound, and Freeze offers a unique stutter effect, synchronizable to tempo (BPM) or freely programmable for rhythmic cuts and glitches.

Utility: Cleaning and Smoothness of the Sound

To ensure reliable tracking and cleaner processing, Utility gathers essential tools: note range limiting (better detection), de-esser (sibilance reduction), gate (noise and bleed reduction), and smoothing to soften aggressive harmonics and achieve a more flexible and "velvety" re-tuning when needed.

Presets, Sharpen, Output, and Buffer: Production Efficiency

With 180 presets crafted by sound designers, Humanoid covers classic hard-tune styles to the most transformed vocal textures. Sharpen enhances clarity to help the voice cut through the mix (brightness adjustable via calibration). The Output section manages overall level, input gain, and a global dry/wet mix, with a resizable interface. Finally, the Buffer setting lets you choose between low latency (Low) and better tracking (Medium/High) at the cost of higher latency, since the plugin analyzes the signal in the spectral domain.
