What Baby Audio Spaced Out Is For
Baby Audio Spaced Out is a "wet-FX" effects plugin designed to add depth, dimension, and movement to your sounds. It is aimed at producers of pop, electro, hip-hop, and ambient music as well as sound engineers who want to give relief to a vocal, widen a guitar, transform a synth into a cinematic pad, or add a controlled halo to a snare drum. Its goal is simple: to bring a mix back to life with expressive echoes and reverbs, while maintaining precise control to stay clean within the context of an arrangement.
Main Features
A "Space Echo" reinvented for a modern workflow
Inspired by the spirit of vintage machines without trying to "copy the past," Spaced Out offers a contemporary approach: a complex engine (more than 50 effects under the hood) but immediate ease of use. The result: a rich and textured character, ranging from subtle spatial effects to bold sound design, with a "hands-on" feel ideal for production.
Sequenced delay and echo textures
Spaced Out's delay is based on a 16-step sequencer synchronized to your DAW's tempo, perfect for creating rhythmic repeats, organic bounces, or evolving patterns. Several rhythmic modes are available (Straight, 2x, Dotted, Triplet), while the Intensity setting influences the sequencer's behavior through sustain and feedback control. To shape the tone, you have textures (Clean, Wonky Tape, Lofi, Hazy), a Reverse mode to invert the playback of repeats, as well as analog-modeled low-pass and high-pass filters to place the echo precisely in the mix.
Atmospheric reverb and moving modulation
The reverb section offers several programs (Vacuum, Small Space, Medium Space, Outer Space) to shift from a compact room to a wide, cinematic tail. The Pre Delay control (0 to 250 ms) helps preserve attack and clarity, while Stardust adds a sustained shimmer for bright tails. To keep the reverb elegant, Mellow acts as a double dampening filter for lows and highs, and Clean Up feeds the algorithm with a "trimmed" dry signal for more controlled density.
Stereo dimension and movement are managed via Dimension (Off, Ultra Wide, Motion) and the Width control (from mono to wide). The XY joystick approach allows intuitive morphing between reverb length and modulation behavior, quickly finding the right balance between immersion and clarity.
Mix control: from spectacular to perfectly integrated
Spaced Out is not just about "looking good": it includes tools to integrate the effect properly. The Ducker reduces the wet signal when the dry signal is present, preventing a vocal or lead from being drowned. Ducker Sync can synchronize this action to the BPM for a clean pumping effect in "four on the floor" style. Finally, Lift Off glues the processed signals together through a combination of compression, mid-side processing, and EQ, achieving a more coherent and "record-ready" sound.
Immediate inspiration with musical generation
When you want to break new ground, the Generate function (the "Dice" button) offers a musically tuned randomizer to instantly create new configurations. Ideal for transforming a bland sound into a signature texture, finding an atmosphere in seconds, or exploring more extreme treatments while staying musical.

Questions frequently asked
Is Baby Audio Spaced Out compatible with Mac and Windows?
The software runs on Mac OS X 10.7 or later, including Native M1 compatibility, as well as Windows 7 or later. It is provided as a download.
How to create rhythmic delays synchronized to the tempo?
A 16-step delay sequencer syncs to the DAW's tempo. Straight, 2x, Dotted, and Triplet divisions are available, while Intensity controls sustain and feedback.
Does the reverb preserve the attack of a vocal?
Pre-Delay is adjustable from 0 to 250 ms to separate the signal attack from the reverb. The Ducker reduces the wet level when the dry signal is present. Ducker Sync aligns this attenuation to the DAW BPM.
What types of delay textures are offered?
Four textures are available: Clean, Wonky Tape, Lofi, and Hazy. A Reverse mode plays the repeats backward, with high-pass and low-pass filters to position the echo in the mix.
How to enhance or animate the stereo image?
The Dimension section offers Off, Ultra Wide, and Motion modes, complemented by a Width setting from mono to wide. The XY joystick allows simultaneous modulation of reverb length and modulation behavior.
