The Japan Tune-up Series: Bacchus' "High-End" Spirit Ready to Play

The JT (Japan Tune-up) series was designed to provide the confidence of a "stage-ready" instrument: each bass is set up and inspected by a dedicated team in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan. Bacchus here claims the heritage of the Handmade spirit (high-end line launched in 2001): a demanding approach to finishes, adjustments, and feel, to offer an instrument you can rely on daily.

This WL5-BP-AC/M also stands out with its KRB (Keiryu Blue) hue, previously seen on limited Bacchus editions. The light gradients of this type require true mastery: the goal is to achieve a rich and clean transition while letting the wood's personality express itself under the satin finish.

A 5-String for Demanding Bassists: Groove, Precision, and Versatility

With its 5-string configuration and JB spirit, this Bacchus targets intermediate to advanced bassists who want a bass capable of performing equally well in rehearsals, studio, or on stage without struggling with settings. The presence of a switchable preamp (On/Off) allows switching from a vintage, dynamic register to a more modern, sculpted sound in one move, very practical when playing multiple songs or styles.

It excels particularly in funk, pop, rock, R&B, gospel, and fusion, where the 5th string adds comfort in low tones and descending lines. The maple fingerboard, very clear in attack, also helps maintain definition in the low spectrum, a real plus on a 5-string.

Sound Character: JB DNA, Maple Clarity, and On-Demand Active Control

The Original JB pickup set delivers what is expected from a bass of this type: a fast response, articulated grain, and great note-to-note clarity. The neck pickup provides fullness and a rounded low midrange, ideal for laying down a groove, while the bridge pickup enhances attack and "bite," perfect for lines that need to cut through the mix. Thanks to the balance control, you can precisely adjust the sonic center of gravity, from warm to sharp, without losing musicality.

The electronics feature a Bacchus BBP2 preamp and Bass and Treble EQ: enough to thicken a clean low end, open up the high spectrum, or tame an overly bright attack depending on playing style and amp. The Preamp On/Off switch is a real asset: in passive mode, you get a more direct and organic behavior; in active mode, you gain headroom and shaping capability, useful for instantly adapting to a venue or song.

The craftsmanship also contributes to the response: maple neck and fingerboard favor precision and definition, particularly appreciated on the B string. The JB Bridge with brass saddles supports a firm attack and stable sustain while maintaining a familiar feel under the right hand. Finally, the open-pore finish provides a more "alive" and natural feel and contributes to a clear projection without excess varnish.
