An Universe Designed for Efficiency: The Bacchus Spirit in an Accessible Version

The Bacchus Universe GS-2DX RSM/M belongs to the Universe series, a range designed to offer a modern, refined, and coherent playing experience, with technical choices focused on performance. Here, the "Type S" DNA is clearly embraced, but with elements that push the instrument towards a more contemporary approach: torrefied maple for stability, stainless steel frets for longevity, and electronics featuring a coil tap to multiply tonal colors. The Lake Placid Blue (LPB) finish, both classic and highly visible on stage, reinforces this positioning: a timeless look, but a guitar designed for today's playing.

Who Is It For, and Which Styles? A Modern and Versatile "Type S"

Thanks to its direct playability and comfort-oriented lutherie, the GS-2DX RSM/M is suitable both for the serious beginner wanting to start on a stable and inspiring instrument, and the intermediate guitarist looking for a versatile electric guitar for rehearsals, recording, and band playing. The long scale (25.5" / 648 mm) provides solid low-end response and familiar string tension for standard tunings, while the synchronized tremolo opens the door to expressive effects.

In terms of styles, this Bacchus feels comfortable across a wide spectrum: pop, rock, funk, indie, modern blues, and even more saturated genres depending on the bridge pickup and amp settings. The coil tap mini switch is especially useful for switching from a thicker sound to a finer, snappier texture, practical for alternating between rhythm and lead parts without changing guitars.

Sound Character: Balanced Poplar, Precision of Torrefied Maple, and H-S-H Palette with Coil Tap

The poplar body provides a balanced sonic foundation, with present mids and a fairly even response. It is a wood appreciated for its ability to remain clear in the mix, especially in rhythm playing, while maintaining a sufficiently crisp attack for clean and slightly crunchy tones.

The torrefied maple neck and torrefied maple fingerboard contribute to a precise playing feel, with a sharp attack and good definition in the highs. Torrefaction tends to stabilize the wood, which is a real advantage for consistent setup (action, relief) throughout the seasons. Add to that the stainless steel frets: you get a smooth touch and very clean note articulation, particularly pleasant for bends, legato, and fast runs.

The electronics are designed to cover a wide range of needs: the specs mention an H-S-H configuration and also reference an Original S-S-H set. In both cases, the idea remains the same: a "Type S" platform oriented towards versatility, with a combination of single-coil and/or humbucker pickups allowing you to switch from round and powerful sounds to brighter and more dynamic tones. The coil tap (mini switch) is the key tool to expand the palette: depending on the pickup and wiring, it provides a finer, snappier output, very useful for arpeggios, funky rhythms, or to brighten a distortion.

Finally, the synchronized tremolo adds an expressive dimension: subtle vibratos, more pronounced effects, and a more "alive" playing feel. Properly set up, it becomes a real asset for phrasing and textures, while retaining the familiar ergonomics of a "Type S" format guitar.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original specifications, prioritize a set of electric strings with gauge 010-046 (equivalent to the factory setup). This is a good compromise between playing comfort, tuning stability, and tonal balance, particularly relevant on a 25.5" / 648 mm scale.
