A Speaker Designed for Portable Sound Reinforcement in the PK Range

The Behringer PK112 embodies the spirit of PA speakers designed to focus on the essentials: a passive speaker that is easy to transport, quick to set up, and robust enough to handle consecutive gigs. Its 12-inch format remains a highly appreciated standard, offering a good balance between low-end impact, manageable size, and versatility on stage as well as in sound reinforcement.

Intended Uses and Target Profiles

The PK112 is aimed at musicians, DJs, associations, places of worship, hosts, and technicians looking for a 12-inch passive speaker capable of covering many situations: front-of-house for small to medium venues, portable sound reinforcement, or even stage monitoring depending on the configuration. It is particularly suitable for setups where a modular system is preferred (external amplification, processor, mixing) and where the number of speakers can be increased according to the event size.

Thanks to its compact size and light weight, it is easy to transport and quick to deploy: on a 35 mm stand for sound projection above the audience, or close to the stage for monitoring purposes. It is a practical solution for assembling a simple, scalable PA system adapted to field constraints.

Acoustic Design: Projection, Clarity, and Coherence

Drivers Designed to Work Together

The PK112 combines a 12-inch long-excursion woofer and a 1-inch compression tweeter to deliver a balanced sound: present bass to drive the rhythm, articulated midrange to preserve intelligibility (vocals, guitars, keyboards), and highs that remain defined even at higher levels. This 2-way approach aims for coherent reproduction and a response suited to the demands of real-world sound reinforcement.

Exponential Horn and Wide Coverage

The high frequencies are handled by a large-format exponential horn, designed for wide dispersion. Practically, this helps better distribute sound in the space and limit the "hot spot" effect in the center, useful for dispersed audiences, multipurpose rooms, or temporary installations. The specified crossover frequency at 2.2 kHz contributes to a smooth transition between the woofer and the compression driver.

Road-Ready: Transport and Installation

For mobile use, simplicity is as important as sound quality. The PK112 relies on a robust construction, ergonomic handles, and a 35 mm pole mount to speed up setup. The passive format also allows adapting amplification to the situation (small event, more demanding stage, adding a subwoofer), while maintaining a speaker that is easy to handle.
