Controls, modulation and connectivity: a true sound laboratory in pedal format

At the heart of the Ring Stinger is a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) whose frequency is adjusted via VCO Freq. The VCO offers four waveforms (sine, triangle, sawtooth and square), allowing you to choose between smoother, more musical modulation or a sharper, more abrasive character. An LFO then brings the whole thing to life: depending on the selector setting, it modulates the pulse width or the frequency using triangle or square waveforms, opening the door to hypnotic pulses, irregular swells and almost sequenced effects.
The saturation section is controlled by Drive (Quantity of gain), Timbre (frequency balance) and Blend (balance between the direct and processed signals). For pedalboard integration, the pedal features 6.35 mm Jack inputs/outputs, a Carrier input for adding an external carrier signal (useful with a synthesizer, another guitar or an audio source), as well as a VCO Out output for routing the oscillator elsewhere in your signal chain. For musicians who like to "play" their pedal, the control inputs allow for even more flexibility with an expression pedal and CV signals.

The sound

The Ring Stinger stands out with its instantly recognizable character: a metallic, bell-like, sometimes atonal ring mod capable of transforming a simple chord into percussive sonic material. With moderate settings and some Blend, you can achieve a subtle, nervous movement, almost like an "extra-terrestrial Tremolo". Push the VCO and LFO, and you move into aggressive textures, dissonant beating and sounds reminiscent of a modular synthesizer.
The distortion-fuzz saturation adds density, grain and musical compression, helping the ring mod remain present in the mix. The Drive + Timbre combination lets you move from thick, rough fuzz to sharper distortion, while the Blend is crucial for retaining attack and definition (especially useful on bass and amplified acoustic instruments). The pedal responds strongly to playing dynamics: by lowering the instrument volume and adjusting the Drive, you can explore a more nuanced range; play harder, and the texture becomes harsher and distinctly abrasive.
