A modeling pedal designed as a "tube amp" in a box

The TM300 belongs to the family of amp modeling pedals : the idea is to capture the feel and tonal colors of a tube amp (attack, grain, compression) without carrying a head and cabinet. With its 3 amp models, 3 gain modes, and 3 mic placements, it lets you switch between different sounds in seconds, all while maintaining a strong "hard rock / heavy metal" vibe.

For which guitarist and in what situations?

The Behringer Tube Amp Modeler TM300 is aimed at guitarists who want a wide range of saturations in an easy-to-use pedal: from polished clean tones, dynamic crunch for riffs, to massive distortion for palm-mutes and solos. It's ideal for rehearsals and live performances when you need to adapt quickly (a cleaner song, a more aggressive one), and it also fits well in home studios for laying down guitar tracks without getting lost in menus.

Controls, settings, and modeling logic

The interface is straightforward: first adjust the output level (Level), then balance your spectrum with the bass EQ and treble EQ. Next, the modeling section lets you refine the overall character: Amp selects the amp type, Model sets the gain mode (from clean to high gain), and Mic changes the "mic placement" by simulating different microphone positions. The result: you can get a more open clean, a denser crunch, or a tighter and more aggressive distortion depending on your playing style and pickups.

The status LED indicates effect activation and also serves as a battery indicator, handy to avoid surprises during gigs. For power, the TM300 runs on a 9V battery or via a compatible power adapter (not included), making it easy to integrate into a pedalboard power supply.

The sound

Its strength is the palette : the TM300 can go from usable clean tones to heavily driven saturation, with a rock/metal-typical grain and a feeling of big sustain when you crank the gain. The "mic" settings and amp/gain choices let you play with presence (more bite to stand out in the mix) or, conversely, a thicker texture loaded with low-mids for heavy riffs. The 2-band EQ helps quickly adapt the pedal to your amp, a brighter guitar, or a cabinet that projects a lot of highs.
