A Bb Baritone Designed for Learning and Ensemble Playing
The BE157 fits within the spirit of marching band and concert band baritones in Bb tuning, valued for their supportive role in the brass section. Its more compact size and overall balance make it a particularly relevant option when seeking an accessible instrument without sacrificing a generous tone and controlled intonation.
Who It's For and Suitable Styles
Thanks to its reduced size and easy handling, the BE157 baritone is well suited for beginners and intermediate players, especially young musicians who need a lighter instrument. It naturally finds its place in marching bands, concert bands, school ensembles, and brass groups, with a response adapted to dynamics and group playing.
Sound and Design
In Bb, the BE157 delivers a round and warm timbre, with stable projection, useful for blending into the section while maintaining presence. Its 11.13 mm (.516") bore contributes to a good balance between ease of play and sound stability. The handmade brass bell with a diameter of 203 mm (8") adds to the sound's breadth and homogeneity, while the silver-plated finish enhances the instrument's elegance and quality feel.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
For simple daily maintenance, you can use a microfiber cloth for the silver-plated finish and a cleaning kit for piston brass instruments (valve brushes and mouthpiece brush). To preserve the mechanics, regular use of valve oil and slide grease is recommended.
