The Fantastic Forest is a work in two illustrated volumes offering 10 educational pieces specially designed for semi-group lessons. The writing is intended for 2 or 3 harp students at the 1st cycle level, aiming to consolidate instrumental fundamentals while developing musical autonomy and the joy of playing together from the earliest years.
Throughout the pieces, students discover expressive uses of the harp's resources and playing techniques: xylo sounds, plucked, nail playing, glissandi, whistle sounds, zingage, and other sonic colors. The work extends beyond the instrument: the score also incorporates voice (poetry, spoken voice, singing), enriching musicality, phrasing, and stage presence. Each volume also includes a graphic notation piece, offering great freedom of exploration: students become improvisers and creators by building their own version of the music.
The themes are inspired by nature and animals, real or imaginary, with images and situations children can relate to from their own experiences. The pieces are intended to be readable, engaging, and expressive, so that each student can make them their own and find a clear intention. As a bonus, teachers and students are free to use their imagination to create staging for public performances.
