Summary of This Method
La flûte éveillée continues the tradition of La flûte en éveil volumes 1 and 2 and offers 12 original pieces composed by Gilles Martin. Designed for flutists at the end of the first cycle level, this collection is suitable both for weekly practice and for preparing auditions, tests, or evaluations, thanks to clearly identified objectives and readable notation.
Each piece fits on two pages and is accompanied by a short text highlighting the flute-specific and stylistic elements addressed. The content notably covers classical-style ornaments, contemporary notation, as well as articulation techniques such as double and triple tonguing. The work also explores harmonic colors and various style codes: whole-tone scale, blues scale, shuffle rhythm, presence of the blue note, and even an introduction to dodecaphonism.
To support autonomy and listening skills, all compositions are recorded on CD. The two pieces with piano additionally include a playback version, useful for practicing timing, breathing, and tempo stability. The accompaniments for "Patchwork" and "Fable" are included in the attached booklet. With its diversity, clarity, and pedagogical landmarks, La flûte éveillée has been designed to develop the joy of playing, encourage independence, and broaden musical culture from the earliest years of learning.
