Summary of This Method

Designed to strengthen the fundamentals of musical training and aural skills, this series is based on carefully selected instrumental excerpts covering a wide period from the 17th to the 20th century. The choice to present the works in their original versions, as they were conceived and written, allows the ear to be anchored in authentic colors, notations, and styles, avoiding a "standardized" listening experience that would cause the loss of valuable reference points.

The method offers in-depth work on musical dictations, whether melodic, harmonic, or rhythmic. The goal is not only to "write down what is heard," but to adopt active listening: identifying anchor points, recognizing recurring patterns, distinguishing the essential from ornamentation, and mentally organizing the excerpt before writing. Error detection exercises complement this approach by developing vigilance and precision, essential skills for rapid progress in solfège and aural analysis.

The CD serves as a genuine daily practice tool. It allows for reviewing an excerpt as many times as necessary, varying memorization speed, and addressing broader listening aspects: timbre recognition, attention to articulations, accents, attacks, and more generally to musical intention. This diversity of approaches makes the training more engaging and closer to real practice situations (rehearsal, sight-reading, ensemble listening).

Suitable for elementary to intermediate levels, this method is appropriate for both supervised use and autonomous work, to consolidate skills, gain reliability, and develop a more confident, faster, and more musical ear.
