Colorissaxo, saxophone latin' ballad' is a collection of original compositions that highlights the alto saxophone through a wide variety of Latin American and Caribbean music. It features swinging and contrasting rhythms from the Altiplano (Huayno from Peru, Takirari from Bolivia) as well as from the Pacific and Atlantic coasts (Cumbia from Colombia, Milonga from Argentina), not forgetting the islands (Bolero from Cuba, Reggae from Jamaica). This variety makes it a motivating resource to develop a sense of style, articulation, pulse, and dynamics.
The educational value of the collection is primarily based on listening: these orally transmitted musics invite the student and teacher to internalize the melodies through memorization, aided by the CD (active listening, accent identification, singing the line, imitating inflections).
