Summary of This Method

When practiced rigorously, buzzing with the mouthpiece is an extremely effective tool for brass players. Working "off the instrument" involves facing less resistance, which naturally encourages playing with more air. This surplus of air promotes relaxation of the embouchure, frees the vibration, and contributes to achieving a fuller, more centered, and more homogeneous timbre across the entire range.

The method also emphasizes the role of the ear: placing a pitch, controlling intonation, stabilizing the attack and sustain of notes require precise and constant listening. As the placement of the mouthpiece on the lips becomes more secure, the gesture gains reliability and comfort. Beyond simple warm-up, this work develops fine benchmarks between sensation and perception, facilitating the acquisition of new reflexes useful in daily practice (sound quality, control, consistency), whether you are returning to playing, improving, or following a preparation routine before rehearsal.
