The Sonnet 60 is the lightest and most immediate version in the range, while the Sonnet 120 targets more demanding stages (more power, more routing and control options).

The goal remains the same: to amplify your instrument with precision, highlighting playing nuances, pick attack, fingerstyle, and dynamics, while maintaining a natural and usable front-of-house sound.

The Blackstar Sonnet 60 is aimed at acoustic musicians who want a reliable and easy-to-adjust amp: singer-songwriters, duos, teachers, and bands in light setups. Its 60W power and portable format make it an excellent choice for home use, rehearsals, coffee concerts, outdoor gigs (with mains power), and small stages.

It is particularly suitable for piezo pickup guitars (where the Brilliance control helps recover airiness without harshness) and modern electro-acoustics. The dedicated microphone channel facilitates a "voice + guitar" setup without an external mixer, and Bluetooth/Line In allows working with backing tracks or hosting a musical break with ease.

Controls, Processing, and Connectivity: The Essentials, Well Thought Out

Each channel has its own controls to quickly balance guitar and vocals. The EQ allows you to adapt your sound to the room, while acoustic-specific features (high-pass filter, brilliance, and feedback suppression depending on the version) target critical areas: body resonances, overwhelming bass, and overly dry high frequencies.

The built-in reverb provides a "studio" finish without an additional pedal: on the Sonnet 60, you get two ambiances (Hall and Plate) particularly suited to acoustic instruments, with adjustable levels per channel. On the stage and content side, USB audio simplifies direct recording, and the XLR D.I. output sends a clean signal to the console. Finally, the footswitch input accepts an optional controller (FS-17) for Mute and reverb activation, handy between songs.

The Sonnet 60 is a solid-state combo designed for fidelity: a clean, fast, and dynamic sound with great clarity on attacks and harmonics. The 6.5-inch speaker + tweeter combo aims for wideband reproduction, useful for capturing "acoustic detail" (string noise, percussive elements, right-hand nuances) without falling into artificial brightness.

In clean mode, it delivers a very clear and "straight" image, ideal for a sound system-like rendering. The high-pass filter helps manage body resonance and gain definition, especially at stage volume. The reverb, whether subtle or more present, adds depth without drowning the playing: perfect for fingerstyle, acoustic pop, folk, acoustic jazz, and vocal accompaniments.
