Blue Cat Re-Guitar is a guitar tone modeling plug-in designed to multiply the tonal colors of a single recorded instrument. The idea is simple: you play your usual guitar, then adjust its sonic identity as if you had changed pickups, the body, or even the guitar type. It's an ideal tool for the home studio, modern production, and mixing when you want to save time without re-recording.

Whether you are a guitarist or a producer working from already recorded tracks, Re-Guitar allows you to "lock in the mix": brighten a rhythm part that's too dark, soften an attack that's too bright, bring out a line in the arrangement, or shift a take toward a more acoustic or hollow body character. All this happens directly in your DAW, with fine and automatable control to follow the dynamics of the performance.

Electric Pickup Modeling: Character Without a Screwdriver

Re-Guitar includes a pickup simulator that reproduces various electric pickup signatures without any hardware modification to your instrument. You can switch from a more vintage profile to a more modern response, or choose variations suited for lead playing, rhythm parts, or sharper textures. For demanding productions, custom models also allow you to create your own virtual pickups and fine-tune the response to fit a song, an amp, or a specific place in the mix.

Body and Hollow Body Simulation: Sculpt the Resonance

Beyond pickups, the feel of a guitar depends greatly on its body and resonance. Re-Guitar's body simulator lets you "add body" and shape a hollow body dimension by adjusting the thickness and amount of simulation. This is useful to widen a sound that's too dry, bring a more organic roundness, or give the impression of a more hollow and airy guitar in an arrangement.

Acoustics and Piezo: Shift from Electric Take to Acoustic Tone

The plug-in offers a selection of acoustic simulations and piezo profiles, including several acoustic formats (modern and vintage dreadnought, jumbo, mini jumbo, 000, small). These models can be used to bring a DI take closer to a credible acoustic sound, create hybrid layers in pop/rock, or achieve a more percussive and defined guitar in a dense production. Custom acoustic models are also available to design a unique signature.

Detailed Tone Control: Virtual Volume and Tone

To refine the balance in the upper spectrum and the gain feel, Re-Guitar provides brightness and gain controls, as well as virtual volume and tone potentiometers. These controls can be automated to follow the performance: for example, opening the tone on a chorus, calming a verse, or simulating a "hand on the knob" action to make a part more lively.

A Studio-Oriented Plug-in: Automation, Presets, and Ease of Use

Re-Guitar integrates easily into a production workflow thanks to full MIDI control, automation compatibility, and MIDI Learn functionality. Its interface is customizable (transparency, zoom), and the preset management is designed for quick comparison of multiple tonal directions. For busy sessions, processing stops when silence is detected to ensure optimal CPU usage. The plug-in also offers noise-free bypass, Undo/Redo history, and the ability to copy/paste the state of one instance to another.
