A special edition of the X series: the Martin spirit in an accessible format
The 0-X1 Black is part of Martin's X series, designed to offer an acoustic guitar with a strong character, focusing on robustness and consistency. This special edition features an all-black finish and modern material choices while retaining the brand's DNA: a balanced response and refined playing feel, especially appreciated in a small body.
Who is it for, and in which styles?
Thanks to its 0-14 fret format, the 0-X1 Black is well suited for beginner to intermediate guitarists seeking a comfortable acoustic, as well as for experienced musicians wanting a compact guitar for practice or travel. It excels in fingerstyle, delicate accompaniment, blues, and in any context where note clarity is a priority, while remaining comfortable for strumming when a clear and controlled sound is desired.
Sound
The HPL (top, back, and sides) provides a consistent response and good stability, with a clear high register and thinner bass typical of Parlor/Concert formats. The scalloped X bracing promotes a more responsive top: delivering a quick attack, good articulation, and balanced projection at controlled volume. The small body naturally helps maintain precise definition, ideal for arpeggios, bluesy licks, and finger nuances.
