A 000 "Series 18" with a Vintage Flavor, Crafted in Nazareth
Part of the Standard series, the 000-18 LH Golden Era is rooted in Martin's heritage that laid the foundations of the modern folk sound. The 000 format, a reference for nearly a century, shines through its versatility and balance. In this "Golden Era" version, Martin emphasizes traditional luthiery choices and vintage-inspired details to create an expressive, responsive guitar tailored for touch playing.
Who Is This 000-18 LH Golden Era For?
This acoustic folk guitar is aimed at left-handed players from intermediate to advanced levels but remains very accessible thanks to a comfortable neck and a shorter scale length that facilitates bends and open tunings. It excels in blues, folk, fingerstyle, and pick accompaniment, whenever a sensitive dynamic, clear articulation, and an instrument that "responds" to the slightest nuance of the right hand are sought.
Sound
The combination of solid Sitka spruce (top) and solid mahogany (back and sides) is a classic: spruce provides attack, clarity, and projection, while mahogany adds warmth, present mids, and a very musical woody character. The Golden Era X-bracing in Sitka enhances the sense of openness and resonance, with generous sustain and excellent note separation. The 000 format favors balance and precision over excessive bass, which particularly highlights fingerstyle playing, blues riffs, and complex chords.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original specifications, opt for a medium gauge phosphor bronze acoustic string set, such as the Martin SP Lifespan Phosphor Bronze Medium (SP7200) factory-installed strings.
