A Nod to Molly Tuttle's 1943 D-18

Designed with the artist, this dreadnought translates the ergonomics and aesthetics of her post-war D-18 into the X Series. It features quick playability and a sober, elegant look in a modern, accessible format built to withstand the rigors of the road without sacrificing Martin's identity.

Who Is It For and What Styles?

Versatile, the D-X2E Molly Tuttle suits beginner to intermediate guitarists as well as pros seeking a reliable acoustic. Its balanced response and projection make it an excellent companion for flatpicking, bluegrass, folk, country, and also pop strumming where a solid low end foundation is essential.

Sound

The solid spruce top provides clarity and dynamics, while the carved X bracing enhances responsiveness to attack and natural sustain. The Dreadnought body shape ensures breadth and projection, with solid lows and singing mids. The "40s" neck combined with the Richlite bridge optimizes attack and tuning stability. Amplified, the Fishman MX electronics deliver a natural signal, easily manageable on stage with simple controls under the soundhole.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To get the most out of this dreadnought: phosphor bronze acoustic strings, Light gauge 12-54 (steel format compatible), acoustic capo with a 16" radius, standard strap with endpin/jack attachment, and a dreadnought-sized gig bag or hard case for protection on the go.
