Summary of This Method

Designed to strengthen the guitarist's musical reading, this method focuses on the essentials: quickly recognizing notes in treble clef, understanding their placement, and then naturally locating them on the instrument. The approach aims for clear progression, ideal for establishing good habits and gaining autonomy, whether playing melodies, sight-reading simple lines, or preparing for more advanced work.

To make learning smoother, the book offers a first stage where the melody is practiced separately from the rhythm. This separation secures pitch reading before adding durations, reducing the feeling of "doing everything at once" often encountered when sight-reading on the guitar.

Note reading is then built progressively through familiar materials: first 3 notes (triads) to anchor intervals and positions, then 5 notes (pentatonic scales) whose sound is frequently known to guitarists. The course continues with 6 notes (blues scales) to enrich melodic vocabulary, and concludes with 7 notes (major scales) for a complete understanding of diatonic reference points.

In parallel, this volume supports learning fingerings and patterns across the entire fretboard. You thus develop a more direct reading (eye to note, then to position), while consolidating essential shapes for playing: triads, major scales, pentatonics, and blues. An excellent resource to structure regular practice and progress in reading, accuracy, and fretboard navigation.
