Designed for a first encounter with the instrument, this recorder method guides the child step by step in learning the basics: note placement, reading and understanding rhythmic values, and immediate practice on familiar tunes. The rhythmic work deliberately focuses on four essential figures (whole note, dotted half note, half note, and quarter note) as well as the corresponding rests, in order to secure reading from the very first pages and avoid information overload.
The study of notes begins in the C (UT) scale to build solid reference points, then gradually expands with the high D and two accidentals very useful for the beginner repertoire: F sharp and B flat. This approach quickly broadens the musical range while remaining accessible, ideal for developing the ear, intonation, and fingering fluency on the recorder.
The included CD plays a central role in the method: the melody of each piece is first performed solely on the recorder, which helps the child follow the line by reading the note names, or better yet, by singing them with the note names to strengthen the connection between reading and listening. Then, the same pieces are offered a second time without the melody: the student can then play the part on the recorder with the accompaniment, as in a real musical context. An excellent support for working on pulse, entering at the right moment, and the joy of playing in a "group."
