An Evolution Designed for Multichannel Monitoring Demands

The SR5.1MKII continues the legacy of monitoring controllers dedicated to surround configurations in studios, where repeatability and level accuracy are critical. Its approach is decidedly "studio-oriented": you maintain a clear audio path while benefiting from direct tools for level matching between channels. This version places particular emphasis on volume control with a stepped attenuator to secure your mixing decisions and facilitate teamwork (recalls, multiple sessions, A/B comparisons).

Who It's For and Studio Applications

This monitoring controller is aimed at studios and creators working in post-production, sound design, music for picture, video games, or any environment requiring reliable 5.1 listening. It is also perfectly suited for hybrid setups where one alternates daily between surround and stereo: a single session may require a quick stereo check, mono control for compatibility, then an immediate return to 5.1 without disrupting calibration.
Thanks to the individual mutes, you can isolate a channel, check for unwanted noise, confirm placement, or adjust a reference level without interrupting your workflow. The front panel trims allow you to achieve homogeneous calibration between speakers, a key element for coherent dynamic, EQ, and spatialization decisions.

Key Features: Control, Downmix, and Daily Calibration

A Truly Usable Volume Control in Critical Environments

In monitoring, attenuation precision directly impacts your choices: a listening level that varies too much makes comparisons difficult and tires the ear. The SR5.1MKII features a stepped volume knob designed to provide fine and reproducible adjustments, with 47 detents and 0.05 dB steps. The result: you can more easily find your reference level, secure your comparisons (before/after processing, mix versions, stems), and maintain stable listening even during long sessions.

Stereo and Mono Reductions: Check Compatibility with a Single Gesture

Translating a surround mix to other formats is a necessary step. The stereo and mono reduction functions help you quickly control compatibility and overall balance: center intelligibility, bass management, ambience coherence, and perception of effects. This is a real time saver in mixing and validation, especially when deliverables require multiple formats.

Individual Trims and Mutes: Clean Calibration Without Menus

The SR5.1MKII prioritizes efficiency: one trim per channel and individual mute switches directly accessible. To align your speakers, check a channel, or correct a level difference, you don't have to navigate software or menus: everything is done on the front panel. This approach promotes more rigorous calibration and encourages regular checks, essential for maintaining reliable listening over time.

Balanced Connectivity: Easy Integration into a True Studio Patch

With 6 balanced inputs on combo XLR/jack and 6 balanced outputs on XLR, the SR5.1MKII naturally integrates between audio interfaces, converters, patchbays, and amplifiers/active speakers. Balanced connections help reduce noise and interference over typical studio cable lengths, while simplifying connections as your setup evolves (adding a processor, changing an interface, dual sources, etc.).
