A treble boost inspired by a sixties classic

The treble boost is one of the "historic" effects that shaped British rock: a simple, punchy preamp designed to push an amp's input and highlight the frequencies that help the guitar cut through a mix. This Cir-Kit clearly draws inspiration from the "Rangemaster" spirit: a focused, expressive boost that can turn an already warm amp into a solo machine while maintaining a true attack feel under the fingers.

Who is it for, and which styles?

This bundle is aimed at curious guitarists, weekend tinkerers as well as DIY enthusiasts who want to understand what they hear. The level is accessible if you follow the steps and get used to checking your components, but it's also open enough to encourage going further (tweaks, experiments, component comparisons).

Musically, it fits perfectly in blues-rock, classic rock, stoner, and anything revolving around a tube amp on the edge of saturation. In the studio, it's an excellent tool to sculpt the guitar's place; in rehearsal and on stage, it's the kind of boost that helps you cut through the band without necessarily "increasing perceived volume" abruptly.

How the Cir-Kit works: prototyping, settings, and assembly logic

The Cir-Kit concept is simple: you get a dedicated breadboard and a pack of selected components to build the circuit. The guide walks you through step by step with a clear progression logic to avoid the intimidating side of breadboarding and get you to a working result quickly.

Important: this is a DIY product. Assembly is the user's responsibility, and best practice is to test components before any final step. This is also the spirit of breadboarding: diagnose easily, fix quickly, and learn by doing. Once your version is validated by ear, you are free to transpose it later onto a more permanent mounting platform if you wish.

The sound

Expect a boost that emphasizes presence and attack : more bite, a clearer high end, and an amp that opens up faster as you turn up the level. On an already crunchy channel, the treble boost adds a very lively "edge" with an immediate dynamic feel (it reacts strongly to pick attack, guitar volume, and pickup type).

Depending on your signal chain, it can range from a subtle brightening (to bring relief to a dark guitar) to a true amp driver role, with richer harmonics and a thickening saturation. This is typically the effect you like to place upfront, to work the input stage and achieve a more organic saturation than with a "full range" boost.
