The Cort X300 is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a snappy electric guitar, comfortable at high gain and designed for fast playing. It excels in metal (heavy, modern metal, extreme metal), hard rock, but also in any context where a sharp attack, precise palm-mutes, and solos that cut through the mix are sought. Its Floyd Rose also makes it an excellent choice for pronounced vibrato techniques and strong lever effects.

Sound

The American basswood body provides an effective balance: present mids, a consistent response, and a punchy feel that works very well with heavy distortion. The maple neck enhances attack and definition, while the rosewood fingerboard slightly rounds off the high end and contributes to a comfortable feel. The compound radius favors a natural sensation for both chords and bends as well as fast playing.

With its two EMG RetroActive Hot70 pickups, the X300 targets a modern, powerful, and precise sound: high output, good clarity on complex chords, and harmonics that are easy to bring out. The control configuration remains straightforward and effective: 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-position selector to quickly switch from sharp rhythm tones to a more singing lead register. The Floyd Rose completes the package with a lively response and highly expressive possibilities.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel, plan on a set of D'Addario EXL 120 strings (reference recommended by the manufacturer). Having a spare set is particularly useful on a Floyd Rose vibrato to keep stable tuning during string changes.
