Summary of This Method

This method offers 5 lessons to learn the soprano recorder, designed to guide beginners without skipping essential steps. The journey starts with the indispensable basics: how to hold the recorder and adopt a comfortable posture to achieve stable and precise playing. You then work on hand position, a key point for clean note transitions and avoiding unnecessary tension.

The method also covers how to blow: the goal is to understand how to produce a clear sound, control intensity, and gain consistency. This step is essential for the recorder, where breath quality directly influences intonation, attack, and timbre. The explanations are designed to promote quick automatisms and good habits from the start.

Next, you move on to fingerings and first notes, with progressive practice. You build your playing by developing coordination between breath and fingers, while reinforcing note reading in rhythm with the learning process. The study of the C major scale structures the whole: it serves as a reference to understand note organization and facilitate the first melodic sequences.

To consolidate skills and keep the joy of playing at the heart of the work, the method concludes with two well-known pieces: "Bella Ciao" and "El Condor Pasa". These pieces allow you to put into music the concepts seen in the lessons (fingerings, breath, transitions), while providing a concrete end goal. An ideal resource to start, review fundamentals, or gently resume playing the soprano recorder.
