Following in the footsteps of Jean-Baptiste Arban's legacy, Antoine Courtois unveils the BELLECOUR, a Bb trumpet named after Place Bellecour in Lyon, an iconic location resonating with the history of brass instruments. Elegant and bold, it fits within the great tradition of French brass instruments, while embracing a modern design. This model was developed in collaboration with trumpeter Clément Saunier and designer Adrien Jaminet, with the ambition to combine sound heritage and contemporary playing sensations.

The Courtois BELLECOUR targets intermediate to advanced trumpeters seeking an expressive and comfortable Bb trumpet, as well as demanding musicians who want an instrument capable of adapting to a wide range of situations. Its ease of response and natural intonation make it well-suited for wind orchestra, brass band, pop, and classical music, while offering the responsiveness needed for a more incisive and nuanced playing style depending on your approach.

Sound and design

Designed to combine power and control, the BELLECOUR stands out with a projection that remains stable and centered, even when you push the volume. The response is described as instantaneous, faithful to every nuance, which encourages expressive playing and precise phrasing. Its rich and shimmering timbre maintains clarity while retaining depth, a balance sought after by many trumpeters both in section and as soloists.
In terms of craftsmanship, performance and comfort-oriented choices are evident: an ML bore of 11.65 mm for a balance between openness and control, a hand-hammered yellow brass bell (122 mm diameter) for projection and sound character, and a standard rose brass leadpipe contributing to harmonic richness and a flexible feel. The lacquer finish protects the instrument while preserving an elegant aesthetic.

Delivered with an ICON 1 1/2 mouthpiece and a backpack case, the trumpet is ready for rehearsals and travel. For regular maintenance, prefer universal trumpet consumables (valve oil, slide grease, microfiber cloth) ensuring to choose products suitable for lacquered brass instruments.
