DriveCore Install: Crown's Approach to Installation Amplification
Designed for environments where stability and consistency are paramount, the DCI (DriveCore Install) series relies on a proprietary hybrid analog/digital amplification circuit combined with patented technologies. The goal is clear: to offer sound reproduction and durability typical of a Class AB design while benefiting from the energy and thermal efficiency of a Class D amplifier, addressing the constraints of installation racks, technical rooms, and multi-zone systems.
The range is offered in two complementary versions. DCI ANALOG targets integration simplicity with an analog input architecture, while DCI NETWORK adds a network layer and tools for control, supervision, and digital processing for managed and scalable installations.
Who Is This DCI Amplifier For?
The Crown DCI is aimed at integrators and operators seeking a power amplifier for fixed installation capable of powering distributed sound systems in 70V/100V as well as low-impedance loads. It is suitable for multipurpose rooms, places of worship, amphitheaters, hotels, retail spaces, convention centers, and multi-room systems, whenever stable power supply, rational 19-inch rack implementation, and per-channel configuration options are required.
Thanks to the high and low impedance selection per channel and bridging in pairs, the amplifier adapts to common architectures: background music, speech, spot reinforcement, independent zones, or channel grouping for higher power needs. The remote power-on control also facilitates daily operation, especially when the amplifier is installed out of reach (technical room, control room, locked rack).
Questions frequently asked
What power does the Crown DCI4600 deliver at 4 and 8 ohms?
Each channel delivers 600 W at 4 ohms and 600 W at 8 ohms, for a total of four channels. At 2 ohms, the rated power is 300 W per channel.
Is the DCI4600 compatible with a 70V distributed audio system?
The amplifier provides 4 x 600 W on a 70V line. High or low impedance selection is done per channel, allowing different zones to be powered within a single installation.
Can the channels be used in bridged mode on this Crown amplifier?
Bridging is available in pairs of channels to combine their power for specific needs. This configuration is additional to the device's four independent channels.
What are the dimensions of the Crown DCI4600 for rack mounting?
The chassis measures 47.5 x 8.75 x 35.63 cm and weighs 9.1 kg. Its form factor is designed for integration into a 19-inch rack.
What features ensure the stability of the DCI4600 in fixed installation?
The hybrid analog/digital DriveCore architecture reduces the amplification chain to a circuit replacing over 600 components. A universal power supply, advanced PFC, and dedicated cooling contribute to continuous rack operation. A remote power on/off control facilitates use from a technical room.
