D'ADDARIO 4/4 HELICORE CELLO SINGLE A STRING SCALE MEDIUM TENSION

Helicore: a modern string that has become a benchmark at D'Addario

The Helicore series has established itself as a reliable choice for cellists seeking a balance between playing comfort, precision, and longevity. Thanks to its multi-filament steel core design, this string aims for well-controlled tension and a consistent response on the instrument. At Medium tension, it meets the needs of the vast majority of musicians, offering an ideal compromise between ease of sound production and tonal richness.

Intended use and musician profile

This Helicore A string is suitable for both beginner cellists looking for a stable and responsive string and for intermediate and advanced players seeking a reliable daily string. It is particularly well-suited for orchestral work, chamber music, and classical repertoire, while remaining comfortable in more modern contexts thanks to its crisp attack and good clarity.

Tone

With its multi-strand steel core, the Helicore A emphasizes quick response and easy sound production, especially appreciated with the bow: the attack is direct, the sustain is stable, and the sound maintains excellent definition. The smaller diameter contributes to a responsive feel under the fingers while promoting precise articulation. The titanium winding on this A string provides a clear sonic signature, with effective projection and a readable upper register, without sacrificing the warmth sought by many cellists.
