Kaplan: A String Designed for Demanding Playing

The Kaplan series by D'Addario is aimed at musicians seeking a more refined sound, with true tonal depth and a wide palette of nuances. This G string was developed to withstand intense playing: it handles strong bow pressure very well while maintaining a clean response and controlled tone. Made in the USA, it benefits from rigorous quality controls, in the spirit of strings intended for players who prioritize consistency.

Intended Use and Cellist Profile

This string is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced cellists who want to gain in projection, clarity, and sonic complexity without losing the warmth of the low register. The Medium tension is suitable both for daily practice (studies, orchestra, chamber music) and for stage contexts where a clear presence is expected. It adapts well to many styles, from classical repertoire to contemporary music, whenever a structured, powerful, and expressive G is sought.

Sound Characteristics

Thanks to its multi-strand steel core, this Kaplan G string delivers a crisp response and an immediate sense of control, useful for precise attacks and dynamic changes. The tungsten winding promotes a rich and complex tone, with excellent definition in the low register and marked projection. Under the bow, it accepts significant pressure without collapsing, while maintaining a warm yet powerful color, ideal for supporting the bass line and densifying the entire spectrum.
