A tuner designed for orchestral string instruments
The Nexxus 360 was designed around the needs of orchestral string instruments, featuring a piezo sensor that prioritizes reading vibrations rather than ambient sound. The result: tuning remains reliable even in challenging environments (section rehearsals, dressing rooms, stage, or classroom). Its rotatable LED display and extended Hertz range make it a versatile tool to accommodate tuning habits encountered in orchestras.
Intended use and target users
Intended for beginner, intermediate, and advanced violists, the Nexxus 360 is suitable for daily practice (scales, intonation, string adjustments) as well as concert situations where speed matters. Vibration-based tuning is particularly useful for orchestral and chamber music settings, where multiple instruments tune simultaneously. For optimal accuracy on the viola, it is recommended to attach it to a shoulder area using its non-marking clip to capture vibration transmission as closely as possible.
Sound quality
As a piezo sensor tuner, the Nexxus 360 does not alter the sound of your viola: it analyzes the instrument's vibrations to display the pitch accuracy. This direct detection improves reading stability, especially in low and high registers, and helps achieve finer tuning when the room is noisy or reverberant. The 415 to 465 Hz range allows adapting the reference pitch according to the context (personal practice, ensemble, Baroque or modern tuning).

Questions frequently asked
Is the D'ADDARIO Nexxus 360 tuner effective for viola in noisy rehearsal settings?
The high-performance piezo sensor reads the viola's vibrations rather than ambient sound. This ensures tuning remains reliable during section rehearsals, in dressing rooms, or on stage.
Where should a Nexxus 360 tuner be attached on a viola?
For the viola, recommended placement is on part of the shoulder to obtain a more precise reading of vibrations. The non-marking clip allows for this attachment.
What tuning range does this tuner offer for viola?
The tuning reference is adjustable from 415 to 465 Hz. This range covers both baroque and modern tuning contexts.
Can the Nexxus 360 display be oriented?
Its extra-bright color LED display can swivel 360 degrees, facilitating reading according to the instrument's position.
How is the Nexxus 360 recharged and what is its battery life?
Charging is done via USB-C, with a USB-C cable included. Battery life reaches up to 24 hours of tuning per charge. An automatic power-off feature is included.
