A "Reserve" Series Between Vintage Heritage and Modern Demands

Inspired by the most sought-after vintage mouthpieces from the 1920s, the Reserve by Rico range relies on D'Addario 's industrial expertise to recapture the spirit of craftsmanship from that era, while ensuring very current manufacturing consistency. Here, ornamentation is not the priority: although the lines are refined and the curves impeccable, it is primarily the mastery of machining tolerances that targets a clear goal: putting the sound first, with reproducibility difficult to achieve on molded models.

For Which Musician and Styles?

This mouthpiece is aimed at musicians seeking a reliable response and a distinctive sound identity, from the demanding intermediate level up to the advanced musician. Its "vintage" approach is particularly suited for those who want to regain expressive playing, clear articulation, and a rich color, in contexts such as wind orchestra, big band, chamber music, or pop, depending on the instrument and reed setup chosen.

Sound and Design

Machined from an exclusive hard rubber, the Reserve mouthpiece aims for a stable playing feel and a musical timbre: clean attack, controlled projection, and homogeneity across all registers. Precision machining improves the consistency of playing parameters (table and finishes), which often translates into a more immediate response and greater confidence in intonation and sound stability. The range is offered with three table lengths (closed, medium, medium-open) to adapt the lip feel, flexibility, and resistance to your approach (reed, ligature, and playing style).

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To preserve the table and edges, the use of a mouthpiece cap is recommended. The choice of a ligature and a cap depends heavily on the exact dimensions and the instrument (depending on the model), so it is best to verify compatibility before purchase.
