D16 Decimort 2 is an effect plugin designed to recreate the sound of vintage hardware samplers: bit depth reduction, sample rate reduction, and conversion circuit emulation that add grain, density, and a sought-after warmth in production. It is especially aimed at electronic and urban music producers (Hip-Hop, Lo-Fi, House, Techno, Drum and Bass), but it also excels in sound design for aging samples, dirtying loops, thickening basses, or adding character to virtual instruments that sound too "clean".In practice, Decimort 2 allows both subtle adjustments (a slight coloration that helps an element sit better in the mix) and more destructive processing to achieve broken textures, abrasive transients, or controlled digital artifacts.

Decimation and quantization options
The core of Decimort 2 is based on a decimation approach designed for musicality, with two quantization methods: mid-raiser and mid-tread. These two algorithms have different dynamic responses, allowing the sound to be directed towards a more pronounced crushing or, conversely, a softer degradation depending on the source (kicks, snares, hats, basses, pads, vocals).Anti-alias filters and image control
To maintain control over the spectrum, Decimort 2 includes an Approximative Filter (a very steep low-pass filter) coupled with the resampling frequency. The goal is to control aliasing by removing harmonic content above the target frequency, resulting in cleaner and more predictable crunch.Additionally, the Images Filter operates after resampling. Synchronized with the resampler, it allows dosing of aliasing images that appear above the resampling frequency when the mode is activated. The result: you can precisely choose whether you want a softened, vintage sound or a sharper, more textured high end.
Jitter and dithering: the "dirty" that remains musical
Decimort 2 offers adjustable jitter, a rare feature in the bitcrusher world. It introduces rapid, random fluctuations in the resampling frequency, generating a form of harmonic distortion and instability that is very interesting for creating movement, thickening a static sound, or emphasizing a "machine" feel.The plugin also includes controllable dithering, useful for masking certain quantization artifacts or, conversely, exploring more aggressive processing by manipulating the perception of noise and granulation.

Beyond sampler emulation, Decimort 2 features analog-like filters with adjustable resonance, usable pre or post. They serve both to smooth the signal, remove artifacts generated by processing, and shape a more pronounced sonic signature.
