What D16 Syntorus 2 Is For

D16 Syntorus 2 is a chorus plugin designed to add stereo width, movement, and depth to your tracks, with a decidedly analog aesthetic. It excels at animating synth basses and leads as well as thickening electric guitars, adding dimension to acoustic instruments, or bringing modulated brightness to pads, electric pianos, and ambient textures. Its multi-delay line approach allows you to go from a subtle "studio" thickening to a lush, expansive, and enveloping chorus, ideal for electro, synthwave, pop, rock, and cinematic production.

Main Features

A three-line chorus for a denser sound

While many choruses rely on a single modulated delay line, Syntorus 2 uses three delay lines to create a more complex, wider, and more natural modulation. The result is a more "alive" effect, with a sense of thickness and depth reminiscent of vintage machines, while remaining perfectly controllable in a modern mix.

BBD modeling and analog warmth option

The core sound of Syntorus 2 is based on an extremely precise modeling of an analog BBD delay line. Depending on the context, you can aim for a clean and precise chorus or activate the Analog BBD Emulation option to enhance warmth, grain, and character, just like on hardware. This flexibility makes it equally relevant as a subtle insert on a track or as a boldly creative effect.

Filters, tremolo, and "rotating speaker" textures

Each delay line includes a multimode filter and a tremolo, controlled by the same modulation sources as the delay time. The filter is especially useful for shaping a darker, smoother, or conversely brighter chorus, and for approaching Leslie-style sounds by combining delay modulation, directional behavior, and Doppler effect. The tremolo can be used alone to add rhythmic movement or layered with the chorus to achieve more dynamic modulations, ideal on keyboards, pads, and guitars.

Flexible modulation and musical synchronization

Syntorus 2 features three LFO generators serving as modulation sources, with configurable routing to the delay lines according to different topologies. Each LFO can be tempo-synced in musical values, and the phase can remain aligned with the playback cursor position, for a stable and coherent chorus within the arrangement (particularly appreciated during exports, playback resumes, and section changes).

Precise mixing of the three lines and real-time control

The Delay Line Mixer offers clear control over the outputs of the three lines, with panning, volume, and VU meter to monitor levels. This allows you to sculpt stereo width, balance, and impact of the chorus without losing clarity, whether for subtle doubling or a spectacular stereo pad.

Studio ergonomics: HiDPI, interface sizes, and MIDI control

To easily integrate into any setup, Syntorus 2 offers multiple interface sizes and HiDPI support for comfortable display. MIDI Learn simplifies assignment to your controllers, convenient for real-time automation of modulation speed, depth, mix, or line volumes to evolve the effect during performance.
