With the first Microtubes 900, Darkglass Electronics established an "uncompromising" vision of the modern bass amp head: power, portability, and an immediately recognizable distortion. About a thousand days later, the brand evolved this platform with the Microtubes 900 v2, designed to push versatility and control even further while preserving the Darkglass DNA. In the same evolutionary step, Darkglass also introduced the Alpha . Omega 900, positioned as a more radical alternative in terms of drive character.
Who this amp is for
The Microtubes 900 v2 is aimed at intermediate to professional bassists who want a head capable of covering a wide range of contexts: intense rehearsals, studio (with a controlled signal), and especially stage/touring thanks to its power reserve and "modern rig"-oriented features. Style-wise, it particularly shines when seeking a bass present in the mix: modern rock, metal, punk, prog, fusion, current pop, but also more vintage registers when favoring a rounder drive and sculpted clean tone. Finally, the presence of an auxiliary input and a headphone output also makes it a very serious tool for silent practice.
