Dehaske Play Klezmer!

Summary of this collection

This collection for flute is aimed at musicians who wish to explore the distinctive colours of the klezmer repertoire through a selection suitable for intermediate players. The writing highlights the instrument’s expressive qualities, with particularly interesting work on dynamics, ornamentation and the melodic character specific to this style.

Thanks to Eric J. Hovi’s arrangement, this resource provides a structured and motivating introduction to klezmer music. It is equally suitable for students who are already independent and amateur flautists looking for an original collection to refresh their repertoire. The inclusion of online resources is a real advantage for refining interpretation, working on rhythm and gaining a better feel for the spirit of each piece.

Part of the " Play Klezmer! " collection, this book offers a lively entry into a musical world rich in contrasts, combining festive energy with lyricism. It naturally fits into an educational programme, whether at a music school, conservatoire or as part of individual study. For flautists seeking music that is both educational, expressive and stimulating, it is an excellent choice for developing musicianship and style.
