Summary of This Score
Tango Diary offers a progressive introduction to the expressive, rhythmic, and passionate world of tango through twelve duets for violin. Designed as a musical journey, this selection creates a natural link between the energy of traditional tangos and a more contemporary approach, with harmonic colors and phrasing that evoke the aesthetic of Astor Piazzolla.
The collection emphasizes what defines the tango style: steady pulse, clear articulations, contrasts, and above all intentional playing (accents, breaths, measured rubato). In duo, the interest is immediate: one player can carry the movement while the other develops the melodic line, then the roles switch. This writing encourages rhythmic coordination, mutual listening, and precision of attacks, while leaving significant room for expression.
To support practice, MP3 audio tracks are available online, with four versions per piece. They help refine stylistic ear, check the balance between the two voices, and gain autonomy between rehearsals. Note: the piano accompaniment parts are compiled in a separate collection sold separately, convenient if you wish to enrich the experience with piano.
