Already considered a standard in the instrument microphone world, the d:vote 4099 has established itself on stage and in recording thanks to its natural reproduction and ability to isolate the source. The 4099 CORE version takes this signature even further: more openness, increased definition, and better handling of very dynamic passages, while maintaining the balance that has made the 4099 series renowned. Who It's For and Intended Uses
The DPA d:vote CORE 4099 (with microphone stand mount) is aimed at demanding musicians, live sound engineers, and stage technicians seeking a condenser microphone that sounds "like the instrument," even in noisy environments. It is suitable for reinforcing acoustic instruments (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, guitar, piano) as well as denser contexts such as orchestras or TV studios, where presence is desired without sacrificing naturalness. Thanks to its directionality and level handling, it excels on stage where control of spill and feedback is essential.
CORE Technology, Reliable Mounting, and Configuration Flexibility
CORE by DPA: More Transparency, Less Distortion
The CORE technology integrated into the microphone aims to reduce distortion and improve detail clarity. In practice, this results in a sharper attack, cleaner harmonics, and a more stable sense of space, even when the instrument moves from very soft playing to powerful accents. This is a direct advantage for live sound reinforcement: a better-defined sound often requires less corrective equalization and integrates more quickly into a mix.
Supercardioid Directionality: Focus, Rejection, and Feedback Control
With its supercardioid pattern, the 4099 CORE primarily captures what is in front of the capsule and further attenuates the rear. On stage, this translates to better isolation and superior gain before feedback. Note: as with all supercardioids, the proximity effect can boost bass frequencies when the microphone is brought closer to the source, allowing adjustment of warmth through placement.
Microphone Stand Mount, Shock Mount, and Integrated Gooseneck
This version comes with a microphone stand mount (MS4099), convenient when avoiding any contact with the instrument or when stage setup requires "on-the-fly" placement. The shock mount system has been improved to better isolate handling noise and rumble. The integrated gooseneck facilitates precise and reproducible positioning from one concert to another.
Built to Last: IP58 Certification
The 4099 CORE is IP58 certified. This robustness relies notably on a hydrophobic nano-coating, sealing of the sensitive internal amplifier, and a diaphragm with double gold plating. This provides extra security for real-world performances (sweat, humidity, temperature changes, outdoor stages).
MicroDot Connectivity and Adapter System: Ready for Wired and Wireless
The microphone uses a MicroDot connector and comes with an XLR adapter. It can also be connected to many wireless systems via dedicated adapters, allowing ecosystem changes without replacing the microphone. The cables are detachable and available in thinner or more robust versions depending on the application, designed to withstand daily use.
