A Cry Baby tailored for John Petrucci's universe

The Cry Baby wah is an essential classic on the guitar pedalboard, and this signature edition follows John Petrucci's approach: a wide, powerful wah with millimeter-precise response control. Rather than multiplying external controls, the philosophy here is clear: a pedal ready to play with a "huge" voicing, and internal adjustments to adapt the wah to your guitar, amp, and gain (overdrive, distortion, high-gain).

It naturally fits into the Cry Baby "performance" family: a wah that doesn't settle for a standard sweep but allows precise shaping of the emphasized frequency band to maintain attack, clarity, and true presence in the mix.

For which guitarists and styles?

This wah is aimed at guitarists who want a very marked expression with fine control over the range and tone: modern rock, metal, prog, hard rock, but also fusion and saturated lead where every note must remain articulated. It is particularly comfortable with sustained distortion when you're looking for a wah that doesn't get crushed and retains a "wide-angle" feel on the mids.

Live, it provides immediate relief to highlight a theme, unison, or solo. In the studio, the internal 6-band equalizer helps place the wah exactly where it's needed in the spectrum to avoid a too nasal, too dark, or conversely too aggressive tone depending on pickups and tuning.

Controls, settings, and design

The Cry Baby Signature John Petrucci is an analog wah with 1 effect, featuring simple and effective connectivity. The heart of customization is through internal controls : a Volume control to adjust the overall effect level, a Q control to choose a wider, singing wah or a tighter, focused one, and especially a 6-band equalizer (from 100Hz to 3.2kHz ) to boost or cut key areas of the spectrum. The result: you can adapt the wah to a powerful humbucker guitar, a heavily compressed amp, or a more dynamic sound without enduring a fixed curve.

Regarding pedalboard integration, the true bypass keeps your tone intact when the pedal is off. The power supply accepts a 9 V battery or a 9 V DC adapter, convenient for switching from a minimalist setup to isolated power supply.

The sound

The keyword: breadth. This wah delivers a sense of width and power, with a sweep designed to remain musical on saturated sounds without losing pick attack. The Q setting lets you shift from a more "vocal" and focused sound to a more open wah, ideal for thickening a lead and adding dimension to fast phrases. The 6-band EQ is a real asset: you can tame an overly biting area, enhance midrange articulation, or add body so the effect remains impressive on low tunings.

Whether you seek a wah that "speaks" on a sustained note or a subtler movement to animate a riff, this signature is designed to respond precisely to playing and adapt to modern rigs with high gain levels.
