Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The DW Performance series captures the brand's "custom" spirit, focusing on direct effectiveness for the stage: meticulous finishes, robust hardware, and solutions designed to handle back-to-back soundchecks and gigs without hassle. In this logic, this polished brass snare stands out as a characterful option in the range, with an immediately recognizable sound, generous projection, and a highly stage-worthy aesthetic.
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
This snare drum is aimed at the intermediate to expert drummer seeking a clear sonic signature, capable of cutting through a wall of guitars as well as remaining precise on more delicate arrangements. It is particularly suitable for rock, pop, funk, gospel, fusion contexts and live situations where the backbeat must stay audible even at high volume. Thanks to the three available snare tensions, it also suits studio drummers who want to quickly switch from very responsive playing (ghost notes, articulations) to a tighter, more controlled sound.

Questions frequently asked
What sound does the 1 mm brass shell produce?
The 1 mm laminated brass shell delivers a fast response, a sharp crack, and immediate projection. The harmonics remain present to retain character in the dynamics.
Is the DW Drum Workshop Performance Polished Brass 14x6.5 suitable for rock?
Its 14-inch diameter and 6.5-inch depth promote a thick and clear backbeat. The brass projection performs well in high-volume rock settings.
How do the three tuning tensions work?
The MAG trigger and the 3P counterpart allow selection among three tuning tensions. A looser tension provides more breath and texture. A higher tension enhances precision and definition.
What hoops equip this snare drum?
Triple-flanged hoops are fitted on this model for open resonance and a natural rebound.
Is the tuning accurate on this snare drum?
TruePitch tension rods allow fine tuning of the drumheads. The compact Performance shells contribute to tuning stability.
