A Modernized Dynaudio Reference for Demanding Studios
The Dynaudio Pro BM5 MK3 takes over from the highly regarded BM5A MKII, a studio monitor that has become a trusted choice in many home studios and professional control rooms. This third-generation model retains Dynaudioâs DNA: honest sound, particularly meticulous construction, and transducers designed to reveal the important details in a mix.
Compared with the previous generation, the BM5 MK3 offers a higher sound pressure level, a wider frequency response, and greater dynamic headroom. It is therefore a compact monitoring solution capable of competing with larger loudspeakers, while remaining well suited to small- and medium-sized workspaces.
A Nearfield Monitor for Precise Mixing
The BM5 MK3 is aimed at musicians, beatmakers, sound engineers, and content creators looking for reliable reference monitoring. Its nearfield format allows you to work effectively at close range, limiting the roomâs acoustic influence on your perception of the mix.
Its low end reaches down to 42 Hz, making it easier to monitor low frequencies, kick drums, and bass lines without systematically relying on a subwoofer. Its ability to reach 118 dB peak at 1 m also provides enough headroom to check a projectâs balance at a realistic level without sacrificing clarity.
Loudspeakers Designed for Speed and Definition
7-Inch MSP Woofer with Aluminum Voice Coil
The 165 mm woofer features a cast aluminum chassis and a one-piece thermoformed MSP cone. This exclusive material combines rigidity and low mass to maintain a fast, articulate, and even response. The diaphragm and dust cap form a continuous assembly that limits unwanted resonances and promotes particularly clean reproduction of the lower midrange.
Its 75 mm voice coil made from pure aluminum wire contributes to the loudspeakerâs low moving mass. It surrounds the magnet to improve linearity of movement, while the resulting responsiveness helps track complex transients: snare drum attacks, electronic percussion, rhythm guitar, or the consonants in a vocal recording.
Soft-Dome Tweeter for Natural High-Frequency Reproduction
The 28 mm D-281 soft-dome tweeter completes the system with detailed high-frequency reproduction without excessive harshness. Its rear chamber and ferrofluid help provide better control of its mechanical behavior. Combined with a crossover frequency set at 1900 Hz, it ensures a coherent transition between the low, mid, and high frequencies.
Class D Amplification and Versatile Connectivity
Each driver has its own 50 W amplifier. Class D amplification and DSP processing help maintain control and precision, even during extended sessions. The BM5 MK3 accepts both a balanced professional source via XLR and more common audio equipment through its RCA input, making it practical to integrate the monitor into a variety of setups.
