A 12-string dreadnought designed for big sound and projection

With its dreadnought body shape (16" x 4-23/32" / 406.4 x 119.9 mm) and hand-scalloped X bracing, the E1D-12-DLX Natural aims for a generous response and strong projection, especially appreciated on a 12-string. The addition of discreet electronics preserves the traditional aesthetic while offering a reliable solution for amplification.

For which guitarists and styles?

This guitar is intended for intermediate to advanced players seeking the typical harmonic richness of a 12-string, whether playing with a pick or in fingerpicking style. It excels in pop, acoustic rock, folk, and vocal accompaniment, where a wide, bright, and enveloping sound bed is desired without sacrificing dynamics.

Sound characteristics

The solid Sitka spruce top provides clarity, attack, and a great dynamic range, ideal for letting choruses breathe and highlighting string doublings. The solid sapele (back and sides) enhances the midrange and definition while maintaining a pleasant warmth: a balance that avoids the excessive brightness sometimes associated with 12-strings. The hand-scalloped X bracing promotes openness, projection, and sustain, while the ebony/bone hardware (bridge and nut) supports intonation precision and chord clarity. Plugged in, the Fishman Presys VT electronics deliver a usable live sound with simple handling.

Recommended compatible accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup, prefer 12-string string sets with gauges similar to .012 - .053 (such as D'Addario EJ39). For maintenance and stability, an acoustic guitar humidifier and a microfiber cloth are perfect. A chromatic tuner is also recommended to facilitate precise tuning of a 12-string.
