An Eastman Dreadnought with a "Traditional" Character... Featuring the Warmth of Cedar
The E2D Natural embodies the spirit of classic acoustic dreadnoughts: a large body (16" width) designed to accompany the voice, support energetic pick playing, and maintain depth in fingerstyle. This "now with cedar" version emphasizes a softer attack and immediate response while retaining the robustness and presence expected from this type of body.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
Ideal for the serious beginner to intermediate player (and perfectly suitable as a stage/home guitar for an experienced musician), the E2D Natural excels in folk, pop, singer-songwriter accompaniment, and strumming. Its dreadnought format provides a solid bass foundation, while the 44.5 mm / 1.75" nut width is also very comfortable for rich chord voicings and fingerstyle playing.
Sound Characteristics
The solid cedar top promotes a quick response, a warm attack, and singing mids, particularly pleasant at low to medium volumes. The solid sapele (back and sides) adds definition, a present low-midrange, and excellent balance, helping the guitar remain clear in a voice/guitar mix. The hand-scalloped X bracing contributes to freer projection and natural sustain, while the combination of ebony fingerboard/bridge and bone nut/saddle enhances attack precision and note sustain. The satin finish encourages a "living wood" feel and smooth playability.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original feel and balance, choose a set of Phosphor Bronze acoustic strings in 012-053 gauge, such as the D'Addario XT Phosphor Bronze 012-053 factory-installed strings.
