A dreadnought designed to offer the Eastman spirit, simply and effectively

The PCH2-D-BK is part of Eastman's PCH series: a range designed to provide a genuine acoustic guitar experience, with serious lutherie and material choices focused on musicality and reliability. Here we find a key feature much appreciated by guitarists: a solid top (thermally torrefied Sitka spruce) combined with laminate back and sides, a relevant compromise to gain projection and stability while maintaining a beautiful sonic homogeneity.

Its black "BK" finish, abalone rosette, and contrasting details (black purfling, white bridge pins with black dots, black pickguard) give it a strong visual identity, perfect for both stage and living room.

For which guitarist and styles?

Thanks to its dreadnought body shape and 25" / 635 mm scale length, the PCH2-D-BK suits both the motivated beginner seeking an expressive guitar from the start, and the intermediate player looking for a solid and inspiring accompaniment instrument. The "Traditional Even C" neck profile promotes a natural grip, while the rosewood fingerboard and 12" / 304.8 mm radius provide a familiar feel, effective for both chords and melodic lines.

In terms of styles, it excels in folk, pop, acoustic rock, country, and anything that demands pick attack power. The X-Braced bracing supports dynamics well: you can play softly with arpeggios or attack strongly in rhythm without the guitar collapsing.

A full-bodied sound: projection, balance, and sustain

The thermally torrefied solid Sitka spruce top is the sonic engine of this dreadnought. Sitka spruce generally provides precise attack and beautiful clarity in the highs, while remaining very responsive to nuances. The thermal torrefaction treatment (a "roasting" type process) tends to give a more "open" and stable response, with a mature feel and better definition, especially appreciated in strumming.

The laminate rosewood back and sides contribute to a balanced output, with present bass and a midrange that remains clear in a mix. The laminate also favors robustness and consistency: useful if you often transport the instrument or play in variable conditions.

The X-Braced bracing and dreadnought shape enhance projection and perceived volume. The result: a guitar that easily fills the space, with comfortable sustain to let chords sing. The rosewood/bone bridge and bone nut help efficiently transmit vibrations, for a crisp attack and good note separation.

Recommended compatible accessories

This guitar comes factory-strung with D'Addario XT Phosphor Bronze 12-53: to maintain the same feel and balance, you can stick with this gauge for replacements. If you prefer a softer play, a lighter gauge may suit, but it could alter the finger feel and attack response. The included padded Eastman gig bag means you're ready for daily transport.
