A Thinline Format with a Distinctly Vintage Character
The T64/v-RD Red (N) fits within the aesthetic of thin hollowbody guitars: a hollow body with compact dimensions to retain the airiness and breadth of an archtop, while remaining more comfortable and stable than a deep hollowbody. Between the "antique" finish, relic hardware, and the pair of Dog Ear P-90 pickups, it clearly targets a classic-inspired register with a strong personality rather than a neutral versatility.
Who Is This Guitar For?
This electric guitar is ideal for intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive instrument, responsive to attack variations and volume adjustments. It excels in blues, vintage rock, indie, soul, and edgy jazz, especially thanks to the hollowbody + P-90 combination. The Bigsby suits musicians who enjoy enriching chord playing or melodic lines with subtle vibrato.
Sound
The hollowbody thinline body in laminated maple provides a clear attack, present mids, and good definition, with a natural resonance that adds depth to chords. The laminated choice also helps maintain more controlled behavior at higher volumes compared to a solid top. The Lollar Dog Ear P-90s deliver a harmonically rich sound: a round but clear low end, very musical "growl" mids, and sharp highs that snap without becoming harsh. The electronics with 250k potentiometers and 0.022 uF capacitor favor a slightly softer and more compact tone, perfect for taming brightness and sculpting textures ranging from thick clean to articulate crunch. The 3-position selector switch allows quick transitions from a smooth neck pickup to a more cutting bridge pickup, with a wide and balanced middle position.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original setup, favor a set of 011-049 strings (matching the D'Addario NYXL 011-049 setup). For reliable use on stage and in rehearsals, a good quality 6.35 mm instrument jack cable is recommended (Switchcraft output), as well as a tuner and picks suited to your playing style.
